Additionally, I should note that writing for me involves no small amount of agony, even without the ick of looking back. As my favorite professor told us, build time into your writing schedule for beating your head against the table and agonizing. It's all part of the process. :)

I think you have to extend that same patience and grace to yourself.

Guilt is such a useless emotion. (I say this, being someone who has struggled with guilt since she was old enough to form sentences, through no fault of anyone outside my own brain). It's an attempt to work penance on something, to yourself. Maybe that's a necessary process ("in moderation" yuk yuk yuk).

We're all feeling like we want to fix the situation. And some people do that through reaching far to larger aspects that effect change for the future, and some people do that by reaching close, to things that effect change right-this-minute. And some people do nothing but curl into a ball. And some people do all the loud things because what they see around them pulls out every bit of their self control, and their rage spills out to anyone who will listen.

We can give each other grace. And we can give ourselves grace.

"earmuffs, a furry hat, pincurls, dreadlocks, kitty-cat ears and 1950’s style A-line housedresses."

That's one hell of an outfit. :)

My friend Jed has a trapper hat much like yours, and he wore it on the air the other day in the snow. The hat was way more popular than he was.

You are way awesome, you know.
The Pronoia book sounds very interesting. I'll have to see if the library has a copy.

Admittedly, I do think "The Tao of Pooh" is genius and makes a ton of sense. He's a little more bearable (ooo, puns!) after taking all that into consideration.
