It freaked me out a little to read this, since I have a giant old trunk EXACTLY like your description (including the leather handles w/dry rot). Eep. And I know it’s not ALL trunks that = evil, ha, but immediately my mind was like “oh man, how long have I had it?! Has my life sucked since then??!?!” (conclusion: no).
